Description

Original letterpress-printed tour poster for k.d. lang's September 8, 1996, performance at the iconic Ryman Auditorium in Nashville, Tennessee. Signed by lang, this piece is an authentic artifact from a venue known as the "Mother Church of Country Music" and a designated National Historic Landmark. Originally the home of the Grand Ole Opry from 1943 to 1974, the Ryman has hosted legendary musicians across genres and was named a Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Landmark in 2022.


As one of the most groundbreaking artists in country music history, k.d. lang emerged from the Canadian country scene in the 1980s, blending traditional honky-tonk influences with her own unique, genre-defying style. She found a natural connection between Canadian country music and American country, as both traditions share deep roots in folk, Western swing, and storytelling. Her 1988 album Shadowland, produced by Owen Bradley—who also worked with Patsy Cline—cemented her place within the Nashville music community. Over time, she evolved beyond the country genre, but her influence remains undeniable. In 2024, she was inducted into the Canadian Country Music Hall of Fame, recognizing her lasting impact on the genre across North America.
