Presented each year to the top defensive player at each position in both the American and National Leagues, the Gold Glove is one of the most prestigious honors in baseball. Gwynn, patrolling right field for the San Diego Padres, claimed the award in 1991 after finishing the season with a .990 fielding percentage, eight assists, and two double plays turned—underscoring his consistency, reliability, and arm strength.
