Description

San Diego State baseball bag from Tony Gwynn’s personal collection, marked with his name and iconic #19. The piece reflects Gwynn’s lifelong connection to the university that launched—and later benefited from, his remarkable career. A standout two-sport athlete at SDSU, he set records in both baseball and basketball before being drafted by the Padres and the NBA’s Clippers on the same day in 1981. After a Hall of Fame run in MLB, Gwynn returned to his alma mater as head baseball coach, where he mentored student-athletes for over a decade. This bag was used during his time at SDSU and represents both his beginnings and his lasting impact on the program.
