Framed autograph and inscribed photo from Rickey Henderson to Tony Gwynn commemorating the friendship between two baseball legends. The image was captured between their Padres stints, during Henderson’s time with the Seattle Mariners, and later gifted to Gwynn with a personal message: “To Tony, Best Wishes—You’re the best.” The two Hall of Famers shared the spotlight on October 7, 2001, one of the most memorable days in modern baseball. It was Gwynn’s final Major League game, and despite Henderson’s intent to sit out in deference, Gwynn insisted he play. Henderson did—and led off the game with his 3,000th career hit. That day became a powerful closing chapter for one icon and a milestone moment for another. Henderson, the all-time leader in stolen bases, joined Gwynn in the exclusive 3,000-hit club, forever binding their legacies.
