The milestone moment came during a home game against the Colorado Rockies, which the Padres won 6-2. Remarkably, this achievement occurred exactly six years to the day before Gwynn would notch his 3,000th career hit. Adding to the personal significance of the day, the hit also came on his mother's birthday, making the milestone all the more memorable in Gwynn’s legendary career.
